Join our WhatsApp channelKARACHI—Journalist Ameen Khan Rajput on Saturday withdrew his decision to self-immolate over unpaid dues by his employers after Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) assured support.
When KUJ contacted Rajput, he told them about his worsening financial condition and said unemployment had compelled him to announce self-immolation.
KUJ assured him that it would try to resolve all his problems, including unemployment and clearance of dues. The union also assured him that it would also assist in resolving the education issue of his children.
Rajput was to set himself ablaze in front of the Daily Ummat office on May 23 at 6.00 pm in Karachi. He served at Ummat for 12 years and quit as a sub-editor over delay in payment of salaries in October 2019.
